Guest Talk: Strategical Timetable Planning

Wednesday, 24.10.2018, 10:30am

Location: RWTH Aachen University, Department of Computer Science - Ahornstr. 55, building E3, room 9u10

Speaker: Karl Nachtigall

The computer-aided generation of timetables gains noticeably importance to the strategic and industrialized timetabling in railway transportation due to the application of more efficient mathematical methods and increasing computational capacities. The department of Traffic Flow Science at TU Dresden is developing the program system TAKT to automatically generate and to mathematically optimize periodic timetables. Simultaneous train path assignment procedures fundamentally change the timetable of DB Netz AG. The result are industrialised timetables that deliver more capacity on the existing infrastructure.
